A wee goodbye.

Gus Rigden
15/11/2002 – 30/06/2011

We wanted to say a little goodbye to our wee friend Gus, who went to sleep last night, and didn’t wake up this morning.

Gus has been with Superette since the very beginning.  He was part of the family. And things won’t be the same without him around. The pics above were taken on his last visit into the office a few weeks ago, as you can see, at 9, he was still looking as bloody good as ever!

Gussy you are going to be truly missed. R.I.P to the most handsome bulldog in the world.

Much love all of us here at Superette.

A sneak peek….

Of what’s in-store from the ‘I Love Ugly’ exhibition being held at Superette tomorrow evening. Get excited! We are even more so after seeing these snaps sent through by Valentin showing a little glimpse at what we can expect from some his new pieces.

Remix does New York.

If you haven’t had a chance already, make sure you pick yourself up a copy of the latest Remix magazine – issue #70 ‘The New York’ edition. The issue has four different cover stars, our favourite being the above shot of mega kiwi babe Georgia Fowler. The issue is filled with sartorial goodness including an uber hot shoot styled by one of our friends, Natalie. Although Natalie works her magic from across the ditch, we were pleased to see her talents are worked amidst some of Superette’s own labels, including new season Alice McCall, Salasai and that Chronicles of Never leather jacket.

New York, we love you – and now Remix, we love you a little more too. Enjoy! x

Awesome people hanging out together.

Isn’t it always surprising when you find two people you know from different groups, that just happen to be friends? Turn that up a notch and you have the images below, from the blog ‘Awesome People Hanging Out Together’. Quite possibly the coolest blog we have seen in a while. Individually, these actors, musicians, politicians and the likes are stars in their own right, but put them together and suddenly these candid shots, of celebrities hanging out, become all that more epic.

Here are some of our favourites….

Barak Obama and George Clooney

Keith Richards, Tina Turner and David Bowie

 Brigitte Bardot and Pablo Picasso
Kate Moss, Johnny Depp and Iggy Pop

Halston, Bianca Jagger, Jack Haley Jr, Liza Minnelli and Michael Jackson.

GZA and Bill Murray.

Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson

Madonna, Sting and Tupac.

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.

Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe

A young Bill Clinton meets President Kennedy.

Monday inspiration.

We love when personal style extends beyond the wardrobe… so we came across these pictures of Kimberley Gordon’s ( of Wildfox) home in LA and had to share. Her home looks effortless and uncontrived, filled with lots of white and pretty things like flowers and candles, just the way we would like our rooms to be…

Here’s what she has to say on her home…

“I love living in LA, I didn’t always love it but after a while you make those permanent friends and find that home  you love and part of LA you love,I love my home and I love Silverlake! CA is amazing for space and I have a big 4 bedroom house that is not exactly “decorated” in any particular way,
but more just a collection of junk and nice things I’ve gathered along the way. Thought I’d share the space were I create the most and get inspired the most!”

A limited run of 6 bottles have been made especially for the night next Thursday (do see the invite down the page if you want to come along) and Superette are lucky enough to have 2 of these special bottles to give away!

The winners will be announced on the night…so if you would like a chance to make one of these collectors pieces your very own then email us at eshop@superette.co.nz one reason why YOU should be the winner and we will put you in the draw.

Dreaming of…winter getaways.

Winter holiday dreaming doesn’t always have to be about escaping to sun dreanched islands
(although this wouldn’t go amiss). We’re just as excited about embracing the chilly season and rugging up for some winter fun in the snow. Are you joining us in the sun or the snow?

Our racks have got you covered rain or shine, so pop in to Superette before you pack your bags, there is bound to be something you have forgotten that you ‘have-to-have’.

Along for the ride.

“No sympathy for the devil; keep that in mind. Buy the ticket, take the ride…and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well… maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion: Tune in, freak out, get beaten.” – Hunter S Thompson.

So we’ve got a bit of a motorcycle obsession going on at the moment. Namely to blame is the TV series ‘Sons of Anarchy’, which since acquiring the first two seasons, has been playing non stop in our household since. In between our imaginary love affair with Jax and the rest of the gang, we are quickly reassessing our winter wardrobes and ensuring there are just the right touches of tough in there… We’ve figured out you don’t have to own a motorcycle to dress like you do.
